Lower plants vs higher plants in terms of life cycles as well as which stage is sexual?
1. In lower and higher plant reproduction happen by two method sexual and asexual method and there life cycle going on
In plant reproduction ( life cycle ) going on by two phases sporophytic ( asexual method) and gametophytic ( sexual phase ) after that each gametophyte than reproduce sexually and give rise to a sporophyte.
LIFE CYCLE OF LOWER PLANT :-
In lower plant not able to produce seed they produce special type of cell called spore and this spore capable of giving sporophytic generation .
On lower plants like algae , bryophyta and some pteridophyt gametophyte generation more prominent than sporophyte generation . Some special organ is present in lower plant that are produce spore.
This lower plant also reproduce vegetativlve also
In algae :- By Akinetes , aplanospore , zoospore etc.
In bryophyta :- fragmentation of protonema , formation of gemmae and bulbils etc.
In bryophyta sexual reproduction contain two alternative generation sporophyte and gametophyte generation. In lower plant gametophyte generation more dominant on which adult sporophyte dependent for nutrition .
Haploid spore from from sporophytic generation germinate to give gametophyte and gametophyte is a sexual phase , gametophyte devlope sex organ which produce gamet and haploid sex cell ( gamet ) that participate in fertilization to form diploid zygote and zygote devloped into diploid plant .
Some time young gametophyte live for a long time.
life cycle of higher plant :- in the seeded plant reproduction happen in both asexually ( vegetative method ) and sexually.
In the seeded plant like angiosperm and gymnosperm sporophyte phase is more prominent than gametophyte stage.
Sporophyte produce spore by meiosis , they produce microspore and andcrospore are devloped into gametophyte , that may be male and female gametophyte after that microspore from male gametophyte and megaspore from female gametophyte are fused ( fusion of male and female gamet ) and produce diploid zygote and this zygote produce diploid plant .
So this is the difference between lower and higher plant life cycle.
If you have any doubt just ask me in comment section.
Lower plants vs higher plants in terms of life cycles as well as which stage is...
There are significant differences, as well as some similarities, in the life cycles of plants vs. animals. a) Compare the general life cycle of a sexually reproducing plant vs. an animal. b) Describe features that allow plants vs. animals to reproduce on land with a limited supply of water. Include both fertilization and subsequent development of the fertilized egg in your answer. HINT: For plants, think of mosses which need a wet environment for reproduction as compared to flowering plants...
Compare and contrast the life cycles of humans and plants (alternation of generations). For each of the following aspects of the life cycles, determine whether the two life cycles are similar or different. If they are different, describe the difference. If they are similar, describe how they are similar. (Hint: look at the figures in your book or the class slides showing the life cycles as you answer this question.) a) the process that produces gametes b) the ploidy of...
Question 29 3 pts The biggest difference between chlorophyte life cycles and the generalized life cycle of land plants is that chlorophytes are unable to reproduce sexually; their only method of reproduction is asexual. O land plants alternate between a diploid and a haploid stage; chlorophytes are always haploid. O land plants undergo mitotic cell divisions as part of their life cycle; chlorophytes divide through binary fission. O chlorophytes require an endosymbiotic host in order to complete their life cycle....

4. Life cycles: Interpret the life cycles using the terms you have learned in class (5pts each; 10pts). B 10 Serratella sp. LENGTH CLASS WAS 4. Reference the figure above where length class is the length in millimeters for this mayfly, Serratello sp. in a permanent, third-order Appalachian stream (data from Huryn and Wallace 1987) Dashed lines indicate adults and first letter of the month begins with July, August, etc. on the x axis....
Do all plants go through alternation of generations life cycles ? Do all plants go through double fertilization ?
Concept 13.2: Fertilization and meiosis alternate in sexual life cycles Chromosomes - karyotype - homologous chromosomes (homologs) - sex chromosomes vs. autosomes - haploid vs. diploid Life cycle (gametes/fertilization/zygote/adult) - meiosis Concept 13.3: Meiosis reduces the number of chromosome sets from diploid to haploid Meiosis 1 - Prophase 1 synapsis/crossing over
Stages in the life cycle of a plant Recall that plants have unique life cycles that alternative between the sporophyte and gametophyte generation. For the list of events below, place them in order to describe the life cycle of the plant, beginning with the germination of a new plant. Then, decide which stages describe the sporophyte stages and which stages describe the gametophyte stages and label each accordingly. Drag the text blocks below into their correct order. The zygote develops...
What is the main difference between double fertilization and alternation of generations life cycles in plants ?
Examine the life cycles of the 3 main groups of plants. What do you notice about the sporophyte and gametophyte stages as plants evolved from mosses to ferns to pine trees?
