Let us first understand the BoxPlot definition to understand it further:

This is a visual representation meant for statistical 5 numbers summary which would be needed for explaining the numbers which are in the tooltip for creating the box plot.

Considering the five number, the summary contains:

Median, maximum, minimum, first Quartile and the Third Quartile

Example:

Note: Quartile calculation: Q1: (N+1) multiplied with 1/4 and Q3: is (N+1) multiplied with 3/4

For example in the number set where x = 1, 3, 7, 8, 11, 13, 15, 16, 18, 20

Now let's find the literal 5 numbers:

20 is the Maximum value
8.25 is the Third Quartile
12 is the median value
2.75 is the first Quartile
1 is the least or minimum value
