Resource scarcity affects the demand /supply integration in a negative manner, I.e. it becomes difficult and sometimes impossible to match the supply with the demand. Thus, in case of low resource availability, the organization is unable to cater to the consumer or market demand. Thus , not able to benefit from the opportunities in the market.
In order to deal with this problem, I.e to minimize the effect of resource scarcity on the profit and sales of the organization, the supply chain manager would have to devise new strategies and source the required material from other sources. Another alternative would be to use substitute material if possible after confirming with the customer. This would ensure the organization is able to fulfil the demand and achieve customer satisfaction. Further, the market opportunities can be utilized to the fullest.
