Proof beyond a reasonable doubt :
The term refers to an evidence that is very close to certainty which is absolute. If the jury has a satisfactory evidence that one has committed a crime without a possibility of any doubt, that is enough to prove the person guilty. A reasonable doubt arises out of common sense analysis. If such a doubt arises, the individual can be acquitted.
Proof by preponderance of the evidence:
It is an evidentiary standard lower than the beyond a reasonable doubt criterion. To accuse someone guilty under this standard, the plaintiff brings physical and testimonial evidences such that at least fifty percentage of it favors the plaintiff. That is, the burden of proof is met only if at least fifty percentage of evidence supports the plaintiff's story.
