Briefly describe main motor pathway such as corticospinal tract. What is a significance of pyramidal decussation?
Corticospinal tract is a motor pathway which controls the movement of limbs and trunk. It starts at cerebral cortex and ends at spinal cord. Most of the neurons are generated here. It forms two pyramids on both sides of medulla of brainstem. It is divided into two parts- lateral and anterior corticospinal tract. The lateral part controls limbs and digits while anterior part controls trunk muscles.
Pyramidal decussation provides a junction point between the medullary pyramids and spinal cord. It allows the nerves to cross from the left side of the brain to the right side of the brain. Or from one side of the brain to the other side.

we have studied in class are involved. In or our purposes, assume that only the four pathways we have studied in class are invol al life, things would not be this simple for a couple of reasons. The injuries rarely wou cact hemisections and secondly other tracts convey some of the sensations assigned to the two acts we studied, and motor control is more than just pyramidal tract function, but also involves -rebellar activity and the "extrapyramidal" tracts that we...
