Importance of hydrogen bonds:

1. Hydrogen bonding is essential for the water's peculiar solvent capabilities.

2. The presence of hydrogen bond in water is responsible for its high boiling point otherwise, water would boil at about -80 °C.

3. The complementary strands of DNA is only possible due to hydrogen bonding.

4. It is highly essential for determining the three-dimensional structure of proteins.

Polarity: The intermolecular forces present between one positively-charged end of one molecule to the negative charge end or the same molecule or other molecule. Generally, polar molecules have pyramid-shaped or V-shaped structure. e.g. Water is a polar molecule due to the electronegativity difference between the oxygen and hydrogen atom.
