Do you feel as though GMO foods are the answer to end world hunger? Why or why not? If GMOs are the answer to the shortages, why do food prices keep going up?

GM crops mean genetically modified crops i.e the role of biotechnology in improving the quality of crops that are to be eaten. The main reason why GM crops contribute to reducing the cost of food worldwide has to do with the very nature of the biotechnology involved, which helps farmers increase production due to herbicide and pesticide-resistant crops.

The increased supply of these crops lowers the price that farmers receive for growing these crops and some of these savings are passed on to consumers, through lower food prices or through smaller increases in food prices. GM crops are part of the solution to food shortages, not the answer.

While the cost of food is impacted by various factors (the price of oil affects transportation costs; temperature changes can cause drought; etc. the main factor affecting the cost of food is the transportation or the cost of the fuel which keeps on increasing and so are the food prices keep going up.
