3. An insulating cylindrical shell of radius 5mm has a linear charge density of 25μC/m spread evenly over its outer surface. What is the potential difference between the surface of the cylinder and a point 2cm above the surface? (Answer: 1.51X105V)

Answer #1

Data given.

Linear charge density, lambda = 25 uC/m

Here outer distance,

r2=5 +2 =7 cm

Inner distance r1= 5cm

Write the expression to calculate the potential difference between the surface of the cylinder and a point 2cm above the surface.

V= (lambda/2pieo)ln(r2/r1)

V= ( 25 *10^-6/2pi*8.85*10^-12)ln(7/5)

V= 1.51 ×10^5  V

Please rate positive if it is correct
