You have been asked to assemble and lead a team to explore the recent increase in customer complaints. You've put together what you believe will be a good team, but you had to "twist a few arms" to get the best people for the team. The first meeting went well. You know they have the skills and knowledge to analyze this problem and come up with good solutions, but you also know that most of them have many other commitments and responsibilities and in some cases, beg - them to be on the team. Which of the four follower styles discussed (i.e. Situational Leadership, capable, &self reliant achiever) do you think best describes this team? Based on this, which leadership style should you use? If later the team moves through the development stages to Performing, with everyone engaged and on board, would you adjust your leadership style? If so, how and why would you do it?   - that's why you had to persuade -(human resonurce management chapter 11)

This situation best describe the capable but Cautious Contributor type of leadership style because in this team people are competent means have the skills and knowledge to complete the task but there is variable committment means that the committment of some of team member is not high as they have some other commitments and responsibilities so leader may have to beg them to join the team. this shows that leader is committed but he should also bring the all team members with same level.

Yes i would change my leadership style because after i find that everyone on my team are engaged and on board then it shows that i have acheieved high competent and high commitment stage. under this stage i would adopt Self-Reliant Achiever. This is because i know that my team would be able to work under less direction and support and they would perform well as they are skilled and have interest in reducing customer complaint.

This leadership style will help them to be creative and show that i am that leader who believes in their capability. i persuade them by giving them autonomy and create a sense of achievement in their mind that they can achieve goals if they are highly committed and benefit themselves as well organization.
