Answer #1

First of all loch is an inlet of either ocean or lake completely surrounded by landmass.

Loch ness situated in the northern Scotland is the largest of all. It is about 35 km long and 2.5 km wide trending NE-SW and is straight in stretch. That is linear in geometry. The average depth is about 130 m.

Both tectonic and surface activities were the keys to formation of loch ness. It is geologically a result of a faulting and glacial erosion. Loch ness directly sits over and along the Great Glen fault. Faulting resulted in weakening of rocks and later the erosional activity of the glacier carved it out in to the present day landform.
