Discuss clearly, what is meant by resource smoothing and what steps would a project manager in a project of your choice, undertake to smooth a resource?

Resource smoothing is a process or project management tool used by the organization in there resource optimization technique.It is a technique used to mange or adjust the activities schedule model. So, that the all requirement of the resources don't go to the beyond of resource limit. or we can say that resource smoothing does not increase the length of the critical path.Generally resource smoothing is used when the time constraint is priority.The main objective of resource smoothing is to complete the work on time while avoiding the peaks and troughs of resource demand.

Example -  Let say you had apply for the science exam and allocated 90 hours for the preparation in duration of 3 months.So, you have 30 hours per month. Now, when you calculating/ scheduling the exam date you find that you have 4 months for the exam.Means 22.5 hour per month.This is called resource smoothing.

Some of the steps project manager will construct for the smooth a resource:

• Budget in a smart way - it will help both the organization and manger to manage or make the budget in that way soo that budget won't go over budget.
• Communicate with your team- this will help the manger to get some ideas,information and suggestions on time.
• Plan everything- when you plan earlier for all the condition/problem.you will able to solve the problem in a easy way.Get all the deals with legal aspect, permission,high quality workers will save your time and money.
• Safety - At a work place safety is very important, always make sure everyone is safe.Every employee stuck to the code of conduct and always wear and take safety precaution in a working place.
• Be a team player - Manger should always become a team player,so that other employees will happy to co-work with the manager.To make the healthy relationship with the employees, it is better to work in a team,treat them as colleague, talk to them,listen them. Because these thing will help you to solve most of the problems in work place.
