Group policy is the windows operating system feature which is used to control the environment of accounts of both user and computer.Windows Administrator uses the group policy to set the controls on the settings deployed.It is used to manage the computers on your network.Using group policies,a whole group of users are given certain access and can be controlled just by changing it in a single system.

GPO Scope and precedence:

GPOS linked to an organizational unit at the highest level in Active Directory are processed first,followed by GPOs that are linked to its child organizational unit,and so on.This means GPOs that are linked directly to an OU that contains user or computer objects are processed last,hence has the highest procedence.

GPO Inheritance:

GPOs can be linked at site,domain,OUs and Child OUs.By default group policy settings that are linked to parent objects are inherited to the child objects in the active directory hierarchy.By default Default domain policy is linked to the domain and is inherited to all the child objects of the domain hierarchy

GPO Filtering and Loopback:

GPO loopback processing is a mechanism that allows user policy to takes effect only on certain computers.Normally,user policy is linked to the user OU and will be applied regardless of which computer the user is signed in.However in this case,user policy is linked to the computer OU and will not takes effect to the user when signed in to computers outside this OU.The user policies applied this way can replace the normal policy or be merged with it.Administrator must know how to enable GPO loopback processing and understand which mode that suits the condition.
