Discuss whether the topic of suicide risk should be discussed during the informed consent process.
In my point of view, the topic of suicide need not be discussed in the informed consent as it would be more on the process, stages, responsibilities and the risks involved in the process. Talking about suicide at the initial stage would only bring a negative start because only few clients who approach counsellors think of committing suicide. Later, if the client talks about suicidal tendencies or if the counsellor identifies suicidal thoughts in the client, the counsellor may open up the topic of suicide.
