Here is a gas-phase isotopic exchange reaction: H2 + D2 --> 2HD (D is deuterium and has a mass of 2 AMU) .

The vibrational and rotational energies of products and reactants have these temperature parameters: H2(Q vib = 6215, Q rot = 85.3), D2 (Q vib = 4394, Q rot = 42.7), HD (Q vib = 5382, Q rot = 64.0)

  1. Calculate the ratio of vibrational partition functions (products/reactants).  Is this ratio going to have a temperature dependence? If it does, then What temperature dependence would you expect this ratio to follow? (ex. scaling like T^(3/2), etc.)?
