Answer #1
  • Our life cannot be matched to the lives of our parents and grandparents. They were far better settled and sorted than us.In a single word-responsibility,is what constitutes a difference. My grandparents emigrated to India after the 1947 partition, when they were children. They arrived in this country with nothing but a sense of responsibility and desire to have a better life. My grandfather started working when he was only 14, he used to sell matchsticks on cycle and did various other jobs.
  • Our generation does not have the will or the sense of responsibility, that our grandparents had. They valued money and time, they knew they had to build everything from scratch for their future generations but we lack that.
  • Today, we as a society have become impatient if we have to wait for anything. Yes, we still have responsibilities, but the nature of those responsibilities has changed. For example, my grandparents were responsible for their children, my father and his sisters and brothers, education. They insisted on their children obtaining the best education available, considering time and place. They did not leave this to an uncertain outcome. They made sure, by being responsible parents, their children were educated.
  • Responsibility also showed in how my grandfather worked. No job was beneath him. As stated earlier,he didnt find selling matchsticks a low job.He was breadwinner and he understood that. The entire family relied on him. Imagine that level of responsibility. There was no quitting a job because you didn't like it,just like how we do it now. There was no staying home because you didn't feel 100% today. You didn't work, you didn't eat.
  • Yes,we do have an option of not doing something we dont like, but that has happened because of our grandparents and parents, they have worked so hard to give us a comfortable life, that we have kind of become lazy and taking things for granted.
  • We do work hard at our jobs and fulfilling our responsibilities towards our families, but we still cannot match up to them and what they have done for use,the sacrificies they have made for us because of lack of opportunities and not having the option of taking up a job just because they dont find it matching to their calibre. We have that luxury.
