Roy is the floor manager of a manufacturing firm. Roy considers Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs to be the primary motivational theory. If Roy wants to motivate employees whom he feels are at the physiological and safety needs levels, what type of motivation should Roy provide? Explain both needs as you respond to this question.

Physiological needs and safety needs are two lowest level needs in the Maslow's hierarchy of needs. In this regard, the floor manager should try to motivate floor level workers, supervisors and other fresher employees as these type of employees will require these needs to be fulfilled first, then they will go on to the next level needs. So, floor level workers, supervisors and other fresher entry level employees are the physiological and safety needs level.

Roy should provide cash rewards and incentives as motivation to fulfil the physiological needs that involve, food, clothings and shelters. If employees get additional cash benefits, then they can properly fulfil these needs and remain motivated to perform better. To cater the safety level needs, Roy should give health insurance, regular training and skill enhancements programs so that they remain safe, healthy and secure in terms of employment. So, to fulfil these needs, employee will work hard and achieve the rewards as discussed.
