Answer #1

World War II started in the year 1939 and lasted till 1945. It was a global war where the world's majority of the countries got involved in two opposing parties called the Axis and Allies.

One of the countries to be worst hit by this war was the US where along with the war came, poverty and deprivation. With the onset of war, the men of the households were forced to leave their jobs and join the US army. Due to this, women of the family went ahead to join the workforce. However, for children, it was difficult growing up without their fathers in the family. The war led to an increased sense of patriotism in the families. The families felt that they are representing their country at war with their sons and fathers being at the border. There were increased cases of marriage. Apart from this, the cases of poverty within families were rising. The number of young widows with children to take care of were increasing day by day in the country. Cases of crimes committed by juveniles were surfacing. The young within the families were committing crimes live stealing and robbing in order to overcome the poverty and deprivation they were living in. Many of the American families were also dealing with anxiety, mental disorders, diseases etc. For an American family, with the rise in job opportunities, there was also difficulty in facing the extreme situations they had to live in.

The overall impact of the war on the US was not good. The costs of the war incurred by the country was huge. The cost exceeded around $300 billion. More than 290,000 soldiers and servicemen were killed in the war. The infamous attack on Pearl Harbor shook it to the core as it was unprepared. During the period of war, poverty was rising with the rise in the federal dues of the country. The participation of women in the workforce increased. US went into a state of depression as well but was able to pull itself out of the situation due to the surge in production of goods during the wartime. However, the country faced high inflation rates with prices soaring up high at the end of the war. Overall, by the end of the war, even after such hardships, the country was able to buckle itself up. Today it stands strong as world's most powerful country.
