Answer #1

In monohybrid cross Mendel saw that, some traits which are not present in the first generation appear in the second generation. This observation made him propose that, for each trait there are two alternates (now called allele), one of which is dominant over the other which is recessive in nature. The dominant one is able to express itself in the heterozygote condition, but the recessive one expresses itself only in the homozygote condition.

In dihybrid cross Mendel so that alleles of different genes about independently of each other, that is, the presence of 1 allele of a gene is not affecting the presence of another allele of another gene. This who was called as Mendel's law of independent assortment, where alleles for all genes assort independently of each other.

98 Mendelian Genetics Exercise D: Mendel's Dihybrid Cross But wait there's morel Mender's monohybrid crosses established that inheritance of phenotypes happened by the interactions of discrete particles' (we now call alleles). Further, he discovered that those alleles segregate during the process of meiosis in the production of gametes, which recombine during fertilization. The result of these two insights can easily be predicted by a technique developed by R. C. Punnett. Once these principles were established, Mendel sought to understand how...

Several of the traits examined by Mendel in his dihybrid crosses are now known to be encoded by genes that occur on the same chromosome. Given the outcome of his experiments, what can you infer about the distance between these genes? How would his results have been different if the traits examined had included plant height and pod shape, which are encoded by genes that are very close together on the same chromosome? Use the following terms in your response:...

In this tutorial you will examine dihybrid crosses: crosses where alleles at separate loci assort independently into gametes at meiosis. You will also use logic to determine unknown genotypes, phenotypes, and genetic ratios from given data. Part A - Deducing phenotypes and genotypes of selfed parents Mendel studied pea plants dihybrid for seed shape (round versus wrinkled) and seed color (yellow versus green). Recall that the round allele (R) is dominant to the wrinkled allele (r) and the yellow allele...
