1. Brief about Decision-solving process:

  • It helps to ensure that the business identifies many alternatives and solutions for the problem.
  • It is important because it gives evidence that needs to be carefully analysed & the feasibility must be weighed: The managers and leaders need to carefully analyse the decision. The management needs to ensure that the team understands the product, associated services and unique selling points hence making it easier and more effective to implement the decision.
  • It helps to take the right decision among alternatives: The management must choose and decide the right alternative. The wrong choice of alternatives can lead to bad communication and in long run, a business will lose its customer base.
  • The decision making helps in creating a solid plan of implementation/ moving to the actionable zone: Decision making is important as post analysis of pros & cons a decision must be selected and implemented. Having an action plan helps to implement the decision better and prepare management for any risk management.

Explanation of process:

  • The first step important in the decision-making process is to ensure that the business identifies many alternatives and solutions for the problem. The effectiveness will be determined if other alternatives don't offer a better solution.
  • The evidence needs to be carefully analysed & the feasibility must be weighed: The managers and leaders need to carefully analyse the decision. The management needs to ensure that the team understands the product, associated services and unique selling points hence making it easier and more effective to implement the decision.
  • Taking the right decision among alternatives: The management must choose and decide the right alternative. The wrong choice of alternatives can lead to bad communication and in long run, a business will lose its customer base.
  • Creating a solid plan of implementation/ moving to the actionable zone: The step of decision making is important as post analysis of pros & cons a decision must be selected and implemented. Having an action plan helps to implement the decision better and prepare management for any risk management.
  • Reviewing the decision taken: It is important to review and further analyse the decision at regular intervals to improve the performance. The review helps to analyse what went right and what needs further modifications.

2. Effective leadership Decisions

  • Bringing innovation, change management culture in the team: While the organisation stakeholders and employee needs to embrace change & support the change management process it is important for having leadership in the entire process. It is important because having a leader who has trust and support from its employees needs to take ownership of the process and guide the process to ensure objectives are met. Strong and passionate leadership helps a lot during the process.
  • Defining goals, clear vision and mission statement for the team: Having a clear vision, defining why the company needs the changes and what needs to be done helps to create support for the success of the change process.
  • It is important to have a clearly defined vision, direction & understanding of the need for change. A shared vision makes sure all employees are invested in the process to bring the needed change. People are able to communicate effectively & work with organisational commitment. Leaders play an important role for the same.
  • Defining clear accountability is another important role which organisation leaders must take into consideration.
  • It is important that a leader plays a role in building open-mindedness. He/she must understand and analyse the opinion of others and should be willing to modify his./her decision on the basis of that. The person who is not open to new ideas and follows strict procedures will not be effective in leading organisations.
  • The role of forecasting and looking into future: A leader should have the ability to forecast and look into the future, visualise external trends & make thoughtful decisions which are ethical and good for the organisation. The ones who are not able to communicate aspirational goals fail to become effective leaders.
  • Develop a role having empathy and carefully observing the progress in the company:  With empathy, a leader can predict and understand the behaviour of people leading to better team management and acceptability
  • As a team leader, he/she need to have a high level of emotional stability while leading the team members.

Analysis of decisions:

The most common problem existing in my organisation is bringing creativity and innovation in the organisational culture.

I also believe that the problem-solving approach is very effective as they are trying to bring creativity and innovation at the decision making level.

To further improve it I would suggest the leadership team to adopt a creativity model with the following steps:

  1. Preparation: This involves curiosity and research by an individual. In this process, the organisation/individual does research, goal setting and organise thoughts to brainstorm various alternatives and ideas.
  2. Incubation: Once the idea is processed then the process involves further synthesis and creation. This process involves fining maximum ideas so that the best alternative can be decided in future.
  3. Illumination: Thos process involves reviewing all the ideas and thoughts. Illumination moment involves a realisation that a particular idea might work the best for the purpose.
  4. Evaluation: Once the solution and idea are finalised during illumination step the individual evaluated to make changes and get more clarity. This involves consultation of peers and leaders to get their insights and understanding from past experiences.
  5. Implementation: This involves the final step of the conversion of an idea into reality (final product). During the process of implementation, further changes and modification can be bought to keep increasing the value of product/service.
