With the new introduction of technologies and equipment in the manufacturing plant, the workers are fearful because of skepticism about continuing their jobs due to high-end machines and their abilities to work with them. Thus it is natural for the workers to oppose the introduction of new machinery in the production facility which can cause immense problems for the management of the firm.
As a change agent, I would advise the management to interact with the workforce in the production plant and assure them about their job security and they will not be thrown out of the company with the introduction of new machinery. Of course, new machines will require new skills and management should make their workforce training for these new skills and upgrade their workforce to work with the modern technological equipment and hence mitigating the fear of the workforce. As change management, I would also advise the management to include the workforce in the change management process and take their views regarding the changes that are being taken. Once the workforce is involved with the change management of the production facility it is easy for the workers as well to transition this change effectively and not resist the change in the production facility.
These are the ways in which management can curb the resistance of the workers for the change in the production facility due to the introduction of new machinery.
