Answer #1

Menopause refers to the permanent cessation of menstruation in the female due to the regression of ovarian function that marks the end of the reproductive life . Climacteric is the period around menopause where the fertility and sexual function declines. Perimenopause is the period in a woman's life which occurs shortly before the onset of menopause. The positive aspects of hormone replacement therapy is that it ensures the continuity of functions such as sexual function, prevention of osteoporosis and menopause related symptoms and vulnerabililties. However, hormone replacement therapy is linked to a higher risk for the development of blood clots and heart disease. In many cases, it has also been assosciated with risk of development of breast cancer.
