Which mental fallacies do we need to avoid to appreciate evolution? (check all that apply)
1.The circular argument of evolution vs. natural selection.
2.Our poor perception of geologic time.
3.Correlation vs. causation when examining the fossil record.
4."Individual pieces of evidence may seem insufficient, but taken together they are hard to refute (consilience)."
5.The unexpectedly rapid growth of exponential populations.
Answer : 1- The circular argument of evolution v/s natural selection
2- Our poor perception of geologic time
The meaning of circular reasoning is basically creating a circle of an unreasonable argument . As a result no useful information is shared. The geologic time is basically period of time occupied by earth. Certain events like evolution of humans and dinosaurs are explained according to the geologic time scale. The geologic time scale is divided into four parts namely, Hadean,Archean, Proterozoic, Phanerozoic. One needs to be aware of the geologic time as most of our geographic history is explained on the basis of it. Therefore poor perception of this geologic time scale fails us from appreciating evolution.
