Answer #1

Difference between MDA-MB-231 cell monolayer and HeLa cell monolayer

Difference MDA-MB-231 cell monolayer HeLa cell monolayer
Primary tumor Invasive ductal carcinoma Cervial cell carcinoma
Origin of cells Metastasis (pleural effusion) Cervical tumor
Naming This cell line was derived at M.D. Anderson in 1976 from a pleural effusion from a 31-year old woman with a history of breast cancer, hence here MDA stands for “M.D. Anderson and MB stands for Metastasis Breast cancer”. HeLa cells come from a sample taken from a woman called Henrietta Lacks and were named using the two initials of her first (He) and last (La) names. She had a cervical tumour, which resulted in her death a few months later, so she never knew that her cells became a cell line that would be widely used in science.
