Name some companies that you think could succeed today with a globalization strategy and explain why you selected those companies. How does the globalization strategy differ from a multi domestic strategy?

Some companies that come to mind that would succeed with a globalization strategy is Apple. They are a world wide company who is branching out and creating a product that a lot of countries are benefitting from not just America. There products are able to be adaptable to an individual’s environment that they are able to be used anywhere in the world. Another company that comes to mind would have to be nestle. Those they sell products that are very popular in America they are able to adapt with different products that can be used in many different countries. If Apple and Nestle only provided products that cater to the American population there growth would not be as wide spread as it is today.

Many American companies enter China through joint ventures with local firms, but China is succeeding in the United States primarily with a strategy of buying companies outright. What are some factors that might account for this difference?

The difference that I can think of is that the market is China is harder to get in than in the United States. China has mostly companies that are existing based on having a partner that is able to provide the insight on the culture.

When would an organization consider using a matrix structure? How does the global matrix differ from the domestic matrix structure described in Chapter 3?

An organization would consider using a matrix structure when they have different products across countries. In addition, they would use a matrix structure when they want to coordinate different products in different countries. For instance Nestle or Colgate-Palmolive used a global matrix structure to coordinate products across geographical regions. Therefore, a global matrix structure deals with the coordination of international geographical regions while domestic matrix structure deals with the coordination of local geographical structure
