KEY FACTORS TO BE EVALUATED WHEN SELECTING A LOCATION INVOLVING MANUFACTURING
1.AVAILABILITY OF RAW MATERIAL -The process of manufacturing involves conversion of raw material into finished goods .But in order to do so ,they require raw material so it is necessary that the location should be such that where we can get raw material very easily ,without any hassle and that too at a very cheap rate which would ultimately affect our profit margin.
2. LABOR -Every manufacturing concern require cheap and skilled labor in order to do their work .They prefer skill labor so that they can easily work upon different machines .Not only this,cheap labor would ensure that their direct labor cost is minimal .Therefore,they always look for those location where they can get maximum labor at a very cheap rate.
3.TRANSPORT FACILITIES- In order to bring the raw material from the market to the manufacturing location and to carry the finished goods from the manufacturing location to the market ,they require good transport ,such that they will be available at any point of time because any delay in this would affect the entire manufacturing process and ultimately organisation would have to bear the cost .
4. GOVERNMENT FACTOR-There are certain location which govt. promote to set up the manufacturing concern to avail few benefits such as subsidy ,or tax benefits etc .Hence,these locations should be given more priority than other locations.
