Joshua was given the privilege and honor of leading the children of Israel into the Promised Land. In many ways, Moses laid the groundwork for this great accomplishment and was responsible for being God’s spokesperson to Pharaoh, convincing him (with God’s help of course) to let God’s people go. How do you interpret God’s unwillingness to allow Moses to finish the journey he started and His choosing of Joshua to complete the task? Please use a few Scriptures to support why you feel this way (minimum 105 words).

Moses was having a close relationship with God and even rescued the people of Israel from the hands of Egypt with the help of God. God promised land for the people of 'Isreal' which he called the land flowing with milk and honey: The land of Caanan. (as in Exodus 13:5). Though Moses led the people of Israel God did not allow him to enter the promised land because Moses acted against God’s will in the ‘Desert of Zin’ at the waters of ‘Meribah Kadesh’. As reflected in the Bible in Numbers 20:8-11, When the people were complaining even after God made so many wonders to bring the people of out of Egypt, God commanded Moses to speak to the rock before their eyes of the people of Israel to yield its water. But Moses out of anger called the people rebels and struck the rock twice after which water came out abundantly. As Moses failed to obey and trust God, he told Moses that he will only see the Promised Land from a distance but will not enter it. (In Deuteronomy 32:51-52). Joshua whose name means deliverer found God’s favor because he was striving to keep the law and in trusting God and hence God chose Joshua to take over Moses’s position. (Deuteronomy 3:28).
