Write and Summarize the four possible outcomes of horizontal gene transfer.
The four possible outcomes of horizontal gene transfer are as follows:
1. Integration of donor DNA with the host DNA : This will result in a population of stable recombinants
2. Donor DNA self replicates: This occurs in case of plasmids. This scenario will result in a population of stable recombinants
3. Donor DNA cannot self replicate: This results in the reproduction of host DNA but the donor DNA does not. This will result in the production of no stable recombinants
4. Host restriction.: The donor DNA is destroyed by host restriction enzymes. This results in no stable recombinants.
Write and Summarize the four possible outcomes of horizontal gene transfer.
The following is in regards to Horizontal gene transfer (i.e. transfer of info amongst cells from same generations rather than from parent cell to offspring cell). In terms of rapid development of multiple drug resistance, why is horizontal gene transfer of greater significance than vertical gene transfer? Name and explain two mechanisms of HGT (horizontal gene transmission). Describe two resistance mechanisms that bacteria may use to decrease susceptibility to a particular antibiotic.

the importance of horizontal gene transfer to the treatment of bacterial infections
What are the 4 forms of gene transfer in bacteria? What is the difference between horizontal and vertical gene transfer? What is gene transfer? How genes move between genomes of bacteria.by the processes of transformation, transduction, conjugation, and transposition? How can gene transfer (conjugation, transformation) contribute to bacteria becoming resistant to antibiotic drugs?
Classify each of the following as either horizontal or vertical gene transfer.
There are four possible outcomes for a gene combination of Aa x Aa. Use a piece of scratch paper to complete to Punnett square. What are the chances that this pairing will produce a homozygous dominant pair? 1 out of 4 (1:4) or 25% • 2 out of 4 (2:4) or 50% 3 out of 4 (3:4) or 75% 4 out of 4 (4:4) or 100% out of 4 (0:4) or 0% A green pea plant (Gg) is crossed with...
describe the differences and similarities between the three different types of horizontal gene transfer.
Part F - Horizontal gene transfer If researchers studying Thaumarchaeota genomes wanted to determine whether these archaeans had obtained genes through horizontal gene transfer, which of the following would be true? Choose the best answer. Choose the best answer. They should focus their attention on virulence genes. They should focus their attention on the genes for gene expression. They should focus their attention on the genes for DNA replication. They should focus their attention on metabolic genes.
