Endosymbiosis theory

This theory gives the origin of eukaryotic cells by engulfing Prokaryotic cell. Eukaryotic cell over time engulfed cells which were able to to perform photosytnthesis ( developed into plant cells) and those containing mitochondria ( developed into animal cell).

Prokaryotic cells enclosed by plasma membrane but lack organelles whereas eukaryotic cell contain organelles , some organelles even contain double membrane organelles like chloroplast and mitochondria.

These double membrane organelle might be prokarotic cells which took function and were engufed by eukaryotic cells. Endosymbiotic theory provides a reasonable idea about evolution of Eukarotic cells from prokaryotes.
