Without asking, how could you tell whether you were talking to astronauts on the Moon or on Mars?

The cue to the the location of the astronaut you were talking to was on Mars or on Moon would be the the speech delays between the astronaut and you on different locations.

The speed of light will tell you the how far from you the astronauts are.Since speed of light is also the speed of radio waves,if you were on earth and talking to the astronaut on moon there would be a time delay of about 2.5 seconds between the time you spoke and the time you would get the response.,but if were talking to astronaut on Mars it would take much greater time because it is tens of millions of miles away from earth so the time delay would be much greater.
