Trademarks definition: It is the name, figure, symbol, letter, or any kind of mark that a manufacturer or company uses as a designation to their goods or brand and differentiate it from other goods and brands.

Example: Chanel is a name trademark for products of the company after the designer and founder of the company Coco Chanel.

Servicemarks definition: It is a type of mark or slogan given for services to identify and distinguish it from the others. It differs from trademark as trademarks are for products and service marks are for services.

Trade Dress definition: It is a legal term that signifies a product by giving its visual appearance or packaging a distinguished look. It can be classified as intellectual property.

Patents definition: It is a grant of protection given for an invention to prevent anyone else than the inventor from using or selling the invention as his own to someone else. Patents can be design and utility patents.

Trade Secrets definition: It is keeping confidential an idea, a process, technique, method or formula from others and getting an economic benefit from it.

Example: The recipe of KFC's tasty and crispy chicken is kept a trade secret and is benefitted by the company for many years.
