Small pox
Small pox was one of the worst disease known to humanity at one point of time. It was endemic globally during 1960s. It was declared eradicated in 1980 through global vaccination efforts by WHO. The vaccination was developed by Edward Jenner. The eradication was successful due to the development of the small pox vaccine, which is the first vaccine to be developed. Today there are no official cases of naturally occurring small pox in world, although small quantity of small pox virus is still there in two laboratories in Russia.
