My wife once did a website for a T-shirt company. They had four styles of shirt. Each shirt had five size options, and ten colors. How many choices did the customer have when purchasing a shirt?
By rule of product, we have 4*5*10=200 choices for t shirt. Since each of these choices are independent (the choice of t shirt style doesn't depend on color nor do these depend on size of t shirt) we multiply the number of choices for each t shirt to obtain:200 choices for customer.
If there is any understanding problem regarding this please feel free to ask any doubt in comment box. Thank you.
