Describe and compare the basic contributions of Maslow and Herzberg to the understanding of worker motivation. (Chapter 10)
According to Maslow's theory of motivation, the worker's motivation depends on hierarchy of needs including personal, social and self realization needs. As per the hierarchy of needs by Maslow, the workers move to higher levels of needs when their basic needs are satisfied like food, shelter, housing, safety and security. The workers are further motivated to satisfy social needs of friends and society and then to self esteem and self realization related needs.
The Herzberg's theory of needs of motivation focuses on factors related to job and workplace including hygiene and motivators. The hygiene factors are extrinsic factors related to workplace like work environment and policies. The intrinsic factors are called motivators based on job related content, goal achievement, appreciation and career growth opportunities. The favourable hygiene factors reduce job dissatisfaction while the motivators or task related factors like job responsibilities and feedback is responsible for employee satisfaction.
Maslow's theory of motivation when compared to Herzberg's theory considers personal and work related factors for workers motivation while Herzberg's theory of motivation is based on factors related to work and workplace. Maslow's theory explains the motivation based on the hierarchy of needs starting from basic needs till achievement and self fulfilment and Herzberg's theory of motivation considers the work related environment for job dissatisfaction. Job related factors like roles and responsibilities motivate employees with chances to perform better and providing opportunities for career growth and advancement.
Describe and compare the basic contributions of Maslow and Herzberg to the understanding of worker motivation....
Maslow and Herzberg approach the study of motivation somewhat differently, but there are also similarities in their ideas. Compare and contrast their views of motivation.
Describe your understanding of the basic economic problem, or the “economizing problem.” In your answer, consider today’s Western standard of living with access to fresh water, abundant food, and spacious housing. Compare this to the standard of living at the turn of the previous century (1899-1900). What are the differences? In light of Principle 8, “A country’s standard of living depends on its ability to produce goods and services” (Chapter 1, Section 1-3a), explain how each of the following categories...
1. Describe Frederick Taylor’s theory of scientific management and its impact on worker productivity. 2. What is the basic premise of Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory and what levels comprise the hierarchy? 3. Describe William Ouchi’s Theory Z. 4. Compare and contrast these three theories and discuss your approach to motivating employees with your classmates.
2. Describe the basic principles of quantum physics. 3. Compare and contrast Newtonian and quantum physics principles as you see them in people's environments and health-care settings.
1) Describe the basic similarities and differences between DNA replication and transcription 2) Compare and contrast the ways in which animal and bacterial viruses gain entry into their host cells.
Program planners and evaluators need a basic understanding of economic evaluation. In addition, they may be faced with certain ethical issues. Interview your local healthcare professionals and evaluators. Based on your interactions, provide responses to the following: Analyze and select two types of economic evaluations. Compare the two evaluations, in relation to the factors that may affect the decision to conduct each of the economic evaluations. Describe at least two potential ethical and social issues related to program implementation. Explain...
Accurately distinguish the basic assessment similarities and differences between Delirium and Dementia. COMPARE: Describe at least three (3) signs/symptoms of delirium and dementia which are alike. For example, in the integumentary system, pigmented lesions were alike in that they had a color change from the underlying skin color. CONTRAST: Explain at least four (4) signs/symptoms of delirium and dementia which vary between the disorders. For example, in the integumentary system, benign lesions had a uniform color but malignant lesions had...
To accurately distinguish the basic assessment similarities and differences between Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. COMPARE: Describe at least three (3) signs/symptoms of Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis which are alike. For example, in the integumentary system, pigmented lesions were alike in that they had a color change from the underlying skin color. Point value: 3 points each for a total of 9 Points 2. CONTRAST: Explain at least four (4) signs/symptoms of Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis which vary between the diseases....
The Green Machine III Understanding Roots, Stems, and Leaves 13 To find water, a plant hus to position its roots with just as much precision as it arranges its leares David Attenborg (1926-present) Just wondering... Answer the following questions prior to coming to lab. 1 Do some plants communicate when attacked by insects? OBJECTIVES Ar the completion of this chapter the student will be able to: 1 Compare and contrast herbaceous and woody plants. 2 Describe the basic function of...
Prelab a) Look over Section 2-7 of Electronic Devices by Floyd to get a basic understanding of diode limiters and clampers. b) Design a diode limiter or "clipper circuit which limits input signals to +3 V and -2 V (cf. Floya, Example 2-11). This means that the output signal should not rise above 3 V and should not fall below -2 V. Also calculate the maximum current flowing through each of the diodes. Simulate your clipper in Multisim and compare...
