A tissue to be unequivocally identified as having an endocrine function should be highly vascular. Endocrine glands secrete hormones that are released into the interstitial fluid that are present around the endocrine tissues and then the hormones get diffused into the blood vessels. These secretions are carried to their target organs through blood vessels and capillaries. Endocrine glands don't secrete their hormones into any specific duct. They depend highly on vascular system of the body.
