IN PYTHON 3: Write a Python program to read the attached text file containing words, count the occurrence of each unique word and store the words in alphabetical order in a text file listing the word and the total count of that word. You cannot use any advanced features such as dictionaries. The program requires user input to determine the name of the file.

Answer #1

# reading file and taking words

name = input("Enter name of the file: ")

f = open(name)

words = f.read().split()

f.close()

words.sort() # sorting words

unique = [] # for results

freq = []

print()

count = 0

for one in words:

# if the word is not in unique, putting with 1 frequency

if one not in unique:

unique.append(one)

freq.append(1)

# if it is there, increasing the frequency by 1

else:

freq[-1] += 1

# printing the words and frequencies

for i in range(len(unique)):

print(unique[i], "-", freq[i])
