Academic Behavior Management vs Home Based Behavior Management

Academic behavior management is the one which takes place in school carried out by teachers. Here teacher takes effective measures in improving the academic outcome of a student by bringing changes in students' classroom behavior. A few effective measures include rewarding student when he achieves his target, introducing new and improved educational method which helps student get engaged with classroom material (encourage students to ask doubt and promote free thinking capability), Each student has different learning capability, hence the teacher can introduce different learning techniques rather than promoting one traditional method which might not suit all. This method too will help the student improve his classroom behavior and promote his/her academic outcome. Home base behavior management on the other side is primarily done by parents on their children as to improve behavior primarily focussing on child's target behavior. Here parents follow 3 steps such as antecedents, behavior, and consequence as to achieve behavior change. Antecedents are the triggers for the behavior, the next step is to introduce measures as to change behavior such as reward system and final is the consequence which is the effective change in behavior.

My response to behavior plans

Academic behavior plans are soft as the main aim is to give maximum comfort to the student and focus on students' academic capability and introduce measures suitable to improve academic outcome. There are no harsh measures such as punishment introduced here as it might bring a negative impact on students' academic outcome. Home-based behavior management can introduce measures which are strict and more difficult to follow for the child as compared to academic one. However, parents have no choice but to introduce strict measures as children are more prone to worsen their behavior at home than in the classroom. Overall, both types of management measures are equally effective in improving overall child behavior and hence are equally important
