Explain why a combined analysis of plasma glutamyl transpeptidase and alanine aminotransferase desirable for diagnosing hepatitis in a patient?
Answer: Hepatitis is basically disease of liver disfunction. so for the testing or for diagnosis of hepatitis in a patient the specific test for liver must be performed. In the testing we basically determine the level of enzymes activity to determine the cause of disease.
As liver consists of various enzymes as
ALT (SGPT): Alanine aminotransferase is an enzyme which is specific enzyme for liver so if we have to diagnose the liver function we focus on this test. If liver damage occur then ALT % is high.
AST(SGOT): Aspartate Aminotransferase is an enzyme which is related to various parts along with liver as skeletal muscle, heart, kidney, brain as well as in RBC. so it is not specific for liver only.
ALP: Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is present in many tissues including hepatobiliary, bone, pancreas, kidney as well as gastrointestinal tract.so we can not use it as specific test for liver.
GGT: Gamma-glutamyl transferase it is specific for liver only that is it is predominantly present in hepatobiliary system. So if the level of GGT is high then the disease is surely related to liver.
So by the above explanation we can say that as ALT and GGT are specific for liver test so we can use both in case of hepatitis in a patient as it is liver related disease.

True/False and explain why. A socially desirable Pareto Efficiency allocation cannot be attained in a competitive market.
[4] Explain why it would not be desirable (from the point of view of economic efficiency) to eliminate all emissions of sulfur dioxide from electric power plants. Now suggest a setting in which zero pollution might be efficient
A 52-year-old man with a history of AIDS, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and alcohol abuse was found unconscious in his home by his roommate. In the ER, he was hypotensive (103/60 mm Hg), febrile (101º F), and unresponsive. Computed tomography scan of the abdomen showed cholecystitis and gallstones. The patient was diagnosed with acute renal failure. He was administered intravenous fluids; BUN fell to 68 mg/dL and creatinine fell to 2.2 mg/dL. The patient’s blood culture report was positive for E....

Explain, using economic theory, why it would not be desirable to eliminate every bit of pollution causing substances (e.g. toxic chemicals) from the world. Explain what economic criteria should be used to answer the question of, ‘how much pollution should we clean up?’

1. Define λmax and explain why it is desirable to do the experimental procedure at λmax? 2. around what absorbance would you expect the λmax to be with each color solution? (Blue, green, red, yellow) 3. a pipet is used to make the solution dilutions in lab. suppose in making the dilution, additional distilled water is accidentally added. Will the concentration of the solution be higher or lower that disered? explain.
