State the advantages and disadvantages of such a marketing strategy. Would you recommend this means of promotion? Justify your answer with supporting facts.

  • Spammers may get shut off by ISPs(Internet service provider). ISPs follow specific codes of conduct. This might forbid spammers to send unsolicited emails through their systems.
  • Spamming is of cause unethical to do. It violate laws and people’s privacy. It also steal people's money indirectly. Most users pay Internet providers on an hourly or even minute basis.
  • Spam emails antagonises potential customers. People become irritated and nervous when they receive unwanted emails. It’s because they get a lot of of emails every day which they have to look through, This waste their time and effort on useless information coming into their inbox.
  • Spam is harmful to one’s reputation. People don’t want to buy products or services which is less careful about them advertised in spam emails. They even tend to tell their friends and others not to buy.
  • Spam is illegal in many countries. With the development of the internet, a wide range of countries have become more conscious about regulations which concern information spread over the Internet.
  • Spam is of cause impersonal. It doesn't consider preferences and requirements of the public. Spam emails aren’t likely to reach the targeted audience. This is an essential success criteria for an email marketing campaign.
  • Spam emails bring profit that is tangible profit to their providers. It doesn't work as email marketing.
  • Spam is against privacy policies. People value their privacy. They consider spam as violating it. If a person is not interested in a product or service, they feel like their privacy is being invaded.
