Hello, I need help with a question for my networking lab. I will put the question below. Thanks!

Question: a.) What is the latency of a 150 meter-long 100Base-T Cat 5e ethernet cable? Assume the speed of electromagnetic waves in copper is 2x108 m/s. Explain how you got your answer.

Answer #1

latency can be defined as the sum of propagation delay and serilization delay in the network

NL= Network latency
PD= Propagation Delay
SD= serilization delay

then by equation provide by Cisco

NL= PD + SD
PD= Distance / speed
SD= packet size in bits / data rate in bits

Now comin to the solution we can see that the length is 150 meter that means 0.15Km.
speed in copper is 2*10^8m/s as given in question.
packet size in bits is 1000
data rate is 1000kbps

now placing all the values in the equation gives us result

network latency of 8 ms
