Assisted reproductive technologies are defined as procedures or treatments to overcome infertility problem. The fertilization of egg outside the body, culturing of embryo in laboratory and transferring it to the uterus. The various types of procedures included in this are use of infertility medication, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, invitro fertilization and cryopreservation of gametes or embryos.

Other Variants are - Zygote intrafallopian transfer, Gamete intrafallopian transfer, perimplantation genetic testing.

Concerns and risks are 1. Preterm birth - The children were born with visual impairment and cerebral palsy.

Multifetal gestation, prematurity, placenta previa, preclampsia, cesarean delivery and perinatal mortality.

2. Low birth weight - In ICSI and IVF procedures, their may be decreased expression of proteins in energy metabolism.

3. Genetic disorders
