5. Do you believe aborted fetal tissue should be used for transplant purposes? Why or why not? Do you believe the government should control this area of medicine? How?
6. Anencephalics will not live for an appreciable period of time. The organs in their bodies are often not large enough to be transplanted. What are your thoughts about keeping the body alive long enough to allow the major organs to reach a size at which they can be trans- planted to other infants?
7. Children born with certain handicaps are born to a life of suffering and pain. If extraordinary means are used to keep these children alive, they may live for a few weeks but not without continual medical intervention. If allowed to die at birth without intervention, they will live a few hours at most. Try to develop philosophies for both sides of this issue.
8. Defend and differ with this statement: Parents should be required to cover the cost of medical care for every child born to them.
9. Defend and differ with this statement: The state should be
required to cover the cost of medical care for every handicapped
child.
Ans 5) The arguments against transplantation of human fetal tissue were the rightful informed consent is not possible to obtain and this procedure could lead to more abortions. But National Institute for Health's (NIH) Human Fetal Tissue Transplantation Research Panel rejected them . It was eventually concluded that whatsoever wrong is involved with transplantation of fetal tissue from induced abortion should be balanced against the benefits of the patients, and it is on this basis that fetal tissue transplantation can be justified.
Ans 6) It feel there is nothing wrong in keeping the body alive long enough to allow the major organs to reach a size at which they can be trans- planted to other infants as long as the process involves confirming a fetal diagnosis of anencephaly, obtaining an informed consent from the parents to artificially support the infant for a period of time set by the parents. This should be acceptable. This will help to raise the hope of a living to those who can survive with these organs. As long as we abide by all the morals and ethics nothing should be wrong.
Ans 7) I feel if the children born with handicap, they do require special assistance undoubtedly and it may require some kind of investment also, but you never give up on your children and you always hope the best to happen for them. At times you may feel helpless due to the prolong illness but no time does the thought of killing them medically comes to the mind. We should try to provide all that we can for your children so that they can achieve all heights in life. But looking on the other side, if they live, may be every day would be a struggle for them and they have to bear more than we know. It may also be the case that their life is painful and they themselves want to quit on it. Looking at this, it may come to us that it was better to kill them at birth only. But we should always be optimistic about things in life and try to find a good and proper resolution.
Ans 8) The children are responsibility of the parents and they should try every possible way to provide them with the best amenities in life. This could be education and medical care. They should try their level best and to the best of their capacity to provide them with all the luxuries of life. But at the same time, when teh children grow up, they also need to take care of themselves and their parents who have do so much for them when they were young.
Ans 9) No the state should not take the responsibility to cover medical cost of every handicapped child as this is not their duty. They can only provision better medical facilities to be provided in the vicinity and provide some aid in their treatment but cannot use all the state fund for the welfare of these children in any way. They have more intense issues to take care and look forward to in the reign. They cannot spend all the time and expenses here, it will not justify their actions.
