Deep sea divers often suffer
a condition known as "the bends"?
Explain based on your
knowledge of solubilities of different gases
We know that solubility of gases increase on increasing pressure and decreases by increasing the temperature.
We exhales gas at atmospheric pressure which is low in comparison to the pressure of gas used by divers deep in the sea for breathing.
Be accused of the low high pressure of gas solubility of gas is also increased as per the Henry's Law.
So along with oxygen, nitrogen also dissolved in the blood. This nitrogen may come out only when the divers will come out to the surface by exhalation.
If the divers come out to the surface very fast nitrogen may former bubbles in the blood stream.
This can interfere in the flow of blood in the nerve and cause pain. This condition is known as the bend .
Hence this totally depends on the solubility of gases in the liquid. Solubility may very depending on the pressure and temperature of the system.
Deep sea divers often suffer a condition known as "the bends"? Explain based on your knowledge...
The "bends" is a potentially fatal condition which can occur when deep ocean divers ascend to the water surface too quickly. The painful condition is caused by nitrogen bubbles coming out of the blood and tearing apart nearby tissues. Explain why this can occur using a mathematical justification.
Partial Pressure (Dalton's Law) 1. To prevent a condition called the "bends," deep-see divers breathe a mixture containing, in mole percent, 10.0 % O2 , 10.0 % N , and 80.0 % He. What is the partial pressure of each gas if the total pressure is 825 mmHg?

5. Using your knowledge of intermolecular forces, explain the following observations: a. Rare gases and hydrogen assume liquid state at finite temperature. b. In the separation of aromatics from paraffins by extraction, liquid SO2 is a better solvent than liquid NHs. At 30°C, the solubilities of ethane and acetylene in n-octane are about the same. However, at the same temperature, the solubility of acetylene in c. dimethylformamide is very much larger than that of ethane. d. One of the main...
