Answer: Following are some of the major industrial relations changes in Germany and Sweden:

Major industrial relations changes in Germany:

  • There has been significant change in trade union member which is about 18%-20% of workforce,
  • They have huge autonomous trade union,
  • They have collective bargaining system who protect rights of employees,
  • Pay provision which is usually for 1-2 years,
  • Establishment of work council for companies having more than 5 employees,
  • The work council have right to be informed about employees matters and also have right to make decision,
  • In large companies employees representative have right to stand in election for supervisory board seat,etc

Major industrial relations changes in Sweden:

  • They have trade union management system which helps them to know about unemployed or job seeking candidates,
  • Local branches of trade union puts pressure on companies to maintain appropriate employees agreement and avoid any issues arising due to agreement such as working environment, employees safety, insurance etc.
  • Currently there are only two major trade unions apart from the state itself,
  • The density of trade union has declined from about 80% to 70%.etc
