How to calculate round trip time
Hi, I was trying to calculate round trip time and saw solution and I am confused where that 8 came from.
Can you explain what that 8 is, and will i always have to have that 8 when the question changes
Question:
Link Capacity = 10 Mbps
Maximum Segment Size(MSS) = 1500 bytes
Two way propagation delay of this connection is 150 msec
Round trip time (RTT) = 150*10^-3 / 8 .
Thus 1/RTT = 8/0.15 msec
^ WHAT IS THAT 8

The measured average round trip delay on a connection is 50 msec. If the link has a bandwidth of 1Gb/sec, what is the minimum number of Bytes that should be available in the window so that the transfer of the data does not become stop and wait
Calculate the total time required to transfer a 1.5MB (Mbytes) file in the following cases, assuming a Round Trip Time (RTT) of 80ms (milliseconds), a packet size of 1KB (Kbyte) data, and an initial 2xRTT of “handshaking” before data is sent: The bandwidth is 10 Mbps (Megabits/sec), and data packets can be sent continuously. The bandwidth is 10 Mbps, but after we finish sending each data packet, we must wait one RTT before sending the next packet. (Remember RTT is...
Please Answer all Questions on Networks, They all involve calculation ( 1-9 Questions) "A single router is transmitting packets, each of length L bits, over a single link with transmission rate R Mbps to another router at the other end of the link. Suppose that the packet length is L= 12000 bits, and that the link transmission rate along the link to router on the right is R = 1000 Mbps. What is the maximum number of packets per second...
Question 1.) An ISP guarantees a minimum 102 kbps download speed. What should be the minimum TCP window size in bytes for a user who is downloading a large file through a link with with 28 ms round trip time? Assume that this network has a MSS of 512 bytes. Question 2.) Now this TCP connection is suddenly routed through a 204 ms delay link. For example the connection may have been using a terrestrial link before, but now use...
Note: b denotes bits and B denotes Bytes (1 Byte 8 bits) Question 1: 32 points: (16)+(16) Source Destination Consider a packet of length L, which begins at source and travels over seven links to a destination. These links are connected through six routers. Let di, si, and Ri denote the length, propagation speed, and the transmission rate of link i, for i 1 to 7. The processing delay at each router is d-proc. The queuing delay at each router...

Question 4: If the BW of the line is 1.5Mbps, round trip time is 45ms and packet size is 1kB, what is the link utilisation in stop and wait? Question 5: Consider a transmission line with CSMA/CD. Assume that the signals travel in the fibre optic line at 0.8 times the speed of light, with an round trip time of 3.2ms, and the temperature of the glass medium is 32 degrees Celsius. Considering a packet (frame) size of 1600 bits,...

6. Figure 1 shows an example variation of congestion window for TCP Reno. Assume that TCP segment size is 1500 bytes and average RTT is 150 msec. i) What is the average throughput (in bits/sec) during transmission rounds starting from round 6 until round 10 starts. ii) What are the values of ssthresh at the 18th and 24th transmission rounds? iii) Suppose TCP Tahoe is used (instead of TCP Reno), and there is a timeout event at 22nd round. How...
Problem 2 For a given network, the average packet length L = 1024 bytes, packets are arriving with an average rate = 8 pakets/s, the network is used to support voice call services which can tolerate a maximum end-to-end delay of 150 ms, the average end-to-end distance between any two connected nodes in the network is 1000 km, the average phase velocity for signal travelling throughout the network links is 0.1 speed of light in free space and the call...
