Answer #1

Given : Mass of body & chair : 100kg , Contact area of each leg : 3 cm2 , and chair has 4 legs.

Solution: Mass divided on each leg = 100kg /4 = 25 kg ,

Force exerted by each leg on floor ={ 100kg x 10 m/s2 } / 4 = 250 N ------( here 10 m/s2

Average force on legs = 250 N / 3x10-4 m2 =833.33 kPa

Final Ans = 833.33 kPa is the average pressure on the legs
