Answer 1 - If the course is benefiting you in positive way then yes your course is going just fine and doing good. If the course does not bring you anything then you are not doing good .
Answer 2 - You should tell honestly what it is that is not doing good or going fine with you, then analize what you can do.
Answer 3 - As extra credit is just for good grades you should never aim for that. Focus on more pratical things which you can gain from this course outcome.
