These threats affect the IT system in many ways like the compromised victim's privacy, loss of customers/ clients of the organization, uncontrolled user access, and many more. It is an important part of information security. In the present era, the social media almost rules the entire human race and contains many sensitive data of every user stored in a database like their name, address, phone number, photos, family member information, etc. Getting the hands of such information may cause many problems for a person. Everyone today is connected through social media and so yes the social media security both enhances and hinders the security or privacy of a person. Through many privacy settings like uniques userID and password, 2-factor authentications, hiding some information from being public(making the account private), allowing only known person to see your profiles, etc have led to securing the privacy of the people to some extent. But still, the fear remains that they can made public if the account is hacked or due to scams. If any organization has weak policies for social media security it may cause many problems like losing customer trusts, leak of data of the organization, etc causing a tremendous amount of loss to the company as a whole.
Hence we can conclude that Social Media Security is an important matter to discuss in today's technology-based era. It is an important part of information security and privacy. It should be constantly monitored and updated throughout the year and should be given the utmost importance in a business.
