Extracellular environment influences the gene expression, as the endocrine signals causes modification of regulatory protein eliciting cascades (chain of chemical signling pathways ) of intracellular signals (it is an mechanism by which cells can respond to their environment) that results in gene expression. Cells can sense their environment and influence gene expression, mRNA splicing, protein expression and modification in protein for responding to these extracellular signs.
