Concepts of a software life cycle:

Defining the project scope

After the project definition has been arrived, the team will be set then the vendor and team will sit together to define the project scope.

Development

The system design and architecture will be set here.

Development model and pricing will be assigned here and developers start add the required features.

Stabilization

Here comes the work for the testers.

They will run multiple test cases to ensure the stability of the product.

Delivering product to the customer

After the end of testing and bug fixing, the product is ready to be delivered to the vendor.

Support after delivering

This phase improves the reputation of the company that we have to provide support even after the delivering of the product.

Example:

I have been worked on a big data product as requested by the client. We have all sit together with the client to decide the project scope of a windows application to create a product to run and analyze the big data analytical algorithms with better UI.

After the scope defined the team was set for the development phase with the support of the team leaders. We have decided the model of development and the pricing involved.

After continuous adding of features the testing team will be test our product to ensure the stabilization. In our company we follow TDT (Test development test) method for better result.

If there are no bugs then the product will be delivered to the client and continuous support will be there to ensure the reliability.
