Reproductive isolation is the mechanism that prevents members of different species from mating and developing progenies. Reproductive isolation among same species is detrimental to their survival. Because it separates the members of the same species and prevent them from mating of developing progeny. As a result the species itself get extinct. For example, if men and women are separated, no children are formed by which the human race will get extinct.
